Two In Hospital After Pershing Drive Crash

Two people were sent to the hospital after a two-car crash on Pershing Drive Monday.

The crash was reported at about 9 p.m. near the Shop-Rite Plaza. One of the vehicles struck a utility pole.

The two patients were taken in separate ambulances by Derby Storm Ambulance to the trauma center at Bridgeport Hospital.

Valley EMS and Ansonia Rescue Medical Services covered calls in Derby while the ambulances were out of the city.

More detailed information wasn’t available Monday, but the crash was one of five motor vehicle wrecks in Derby Monday, according to the Storm Engine Co. Facebook page.

Emergency crews were later sent to Cedric Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday after receiving a report of an outside fire. Fire officials said a fire pit in a yard had not been properly extinguished.

Finally, readers on the Valley Indy Facebook page reported a car crash on Route 8 north near exit 18 at about 11 p.m.
