
SHELTON – Two 14-year-olds from Hamden face multiple charges after police received a report of a vehicle being stolen from a driveway in Shelton.
Police said a vehicle was stolen from a driveway at about 2:15 a.m. on Nov. 19. Police didn’t say which road the theft happened, but noted the vehicle was unlocked with the keys inside.
A police car came upon the stolen vehicle and a second vehicle suspected of being connected to the crime. The drivers took off as police tried to pull them over.
The suspect vehicle crashed, and its driver ran away. Police did not provide locations. The driver of the stolen vehicle struck a police car while trying to get away.
Three occupants got out of the stolen vehicle and ran. Police caught two of the three people from that vehicle.
Two juveniles are charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, engaging in pursuit, reckless driving, interfering, and operating without a license.
One of the suspects was wearing an ankle bracelet. Police said he was on probation. His probation officer was contacted.
State law prevents police from releasing the suspects’ names due to their age.
