Two men were charged with kidnapping Tuesday after allegedly keeping a woman against her will.
The victim, a Milford woman, told police she met the two men in a bar in her hometown. They then went bar hopping at drinking establishments in Westport and New York state, police said.
At some point — police did not provide specific times — things took a turn for the worse.
The woman was afraid for her life because the men made threatening statements to her when she demanded to be taken home, according to Seymour police Lt. Paul Satkowski.
She convinced the men to turn off Route 8 in Seymour, then flagged down a police officer near the Stop & Shop on Franklin Street at 1:30 a.m. The location isn’t far from the police department.
“It was scary for her,” Satkowski said. “She was visibly shaken and distraught. She is lucky she was able to get out of the car, and that
a police officer just happened to be nearby.”
According to a police report, Christopher Mackinnon, 46, of 75 Anderson Road, Tolland, and James Valentine, 57, of 110 Pond View Drive, Southbury, were charged with first-degree kidnapping and second-degree threatening.
Mackinnon was also charged with interfering with an officer. Both were released on $25,000 bond and will appear in court Feb. 7.
