Joseph A. Pagliaro, Jr. has been named as the Chairman of the 2010 – 2011 Community Campaign for Valley United Way.
Joe is the Senior Vice President of Riverview and Adzima Funeral Services and has been an active community volunteer leader throughout his career. His selection
marks the first time in Valley United history that the campaign leadership has passed from one generation to another in the same family.
His father, the late Joseph A. Pagliaro Sr., chaired the successful 1999 Community Campaign.
In making the announcement, United Way Board President Mike Marcinek noted that, “Joe is continuing a long tradition of community leadership established by the Pagliaro family, and we are very pleased that Joe is giving his time and talents to this year’s effort”.
Joe has been a member of the campaign cabinet and Valley United Way’s Board of Directors for several years and is actively involved with many other Valley groups. He is a member of the Board at the Valley Community Foundation, the Shelton Economic Development Commission, the Lower Naugatuck Valley Boys & Girls Club, the Birmingham Group and the Valley Division of Junior Achievement.
He is also a corporator at Griffin Hospital.
Joe was co-chair of the recent Birmingham Block Party, and is the new co-chair of the Bowl to Benefit event.
Joe is a former member and chair of the Shelton Board of Education. He is also a past member of the board at the Parent Child Resource Center.
A graduate of Sacred Heart University with a B.S. in political science, he graduated from the New England Institute of Embalming with an associates degree in applied sciences.
Joe feels that the Valley is a very special place to live and work and that the Community Campaign is an integral part of Valley life. He feels that the key to a successful campaign will be to expand the level of involvement from the community.
One of his themes will be, “Bring a Friend to United Way”. He said, “If everyone who is currently involved with Valley United Way would bring along one friend to this year’s campaign, it would have a dramatic impact on our ability to fund needed programs and services in the Valley.”
Valley United Way is the leading philanthropic resource for the Valley towns of Ansonia, Derby, Oxford, Seymour and Shelton matching the needs of the community and the interests of donors to improve the quality of life in the community.
