UPDATE: Ansonia Man Arrested After Seymour Altercation

A man was arrested outside the Bank of America on Main Street in Seymour Tuesday after allegedly getting into an argument with an employee of an armored car service.

(UPDATE, March 19, 2014: The charges against the man were dropped)

Seymour police initially charged the man with second-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace.

The man called the Valley Indy March 7 and hotly disputed the police account of the incident, saying he was trying to get information about the armored truck because the driver of the vehicle had almost caused an accident in front of the bank.

The incident happened about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday (March 5), after an armored vehicle from the Garda company pulled in front of the bank.

The suspect allegedly followed the guard into the bank and back out onto the sidewalk and, at some point, tried to get into the armored vehicle, according to reports from the scene.

The man said he spoke with the manager of the bank and that I was leaving the bank when police arrived.”

I never tried to touch the truck, I never tried to get into that truck,” he said. I’m not an idiot.”
