Urgent Health Clinic Opens In Ansonia

Owners Stephen Arndt and Ali Shauket welcomed about 20 officials to the new business — at 158 Main St., Suite 201 — Monday morning, where Mayor David Cassetti congratulated the pair before a ribbon-cutting ceremony in front of the building.

The doctor’s office provides an array of health services, from same-day urgent care to routine physicals to primary and preventative care.

It’s the second location for the business, whose first office opened on Milford’s Bridgeport Avenue.

Arndt and Shauket, friends for more than 20 years, signed a lease for the space last year and said interest has been building since, with people stopping by and asking when they’d be open.

“We’re finding a lot of people have to travel to get the quick access to the care that they need,” Arndt said.

State Sen. Joseph Crisco agreed, saying the new clinic will be “providing such a need.”

“We’ve had major problems all over the state getting care to people,” Crisco said. “We’ll have a healthier community because of this.”

“Thank you for coming to our wonderful city,” state Rep. Linda Gentile told Shauket and Arndt. “Congratulations to both of you.”

“Any time you go through something like that it creates compassion for anyone going through anything,” Arndt said.

He said he and Shauket look to hire staff members with the same compassion, and though the business offers walk-in care, look to create lasting relationships with patients.

“We don’t want a revolving door,” he said.

Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce President Bill Purcell said the new clinic is just the latest of a string of positive news for Ansonia, noting recent openings at other downtown businesses and the move of Shelton’s Better Packages to the Hershey Industrial Park.

“The beat goes on here,” said Purcell, who began Monday’s ceremony with a moment of silence for Rep. Larry Miller, a longtime lawmaker representing Shelton, Stratford, and Trumbull who died Sunday.

“It may be fitting that we gather here today to talk about health,” Purcell said, noting Miller’s longtime interest in health issues.

My Health 1st Urgent Care’s hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday.

The phone number is 203 – 751-9835.
