Valley-Studded Cast Set To Star In ‘Legally Blonde’ In Shelton

Center Stage Theatre will kick off its 8th season with Legally Blonde, featuring the Youth CONNection Players, at Shelton High School.

Now in its 29th year, the Youth CONNection, a division of Center Stage Theatre in Shelton, is a community theatre company for high school and college students. The group is committed to providing quality and affordable musical theatre to residents of Shelton and surrounding communities. In recent years, the group has produced Annie Get Your Gun, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Music Man, You Can’t Stop the Beat, Kismet, The King and I, and Seussical.

Legally Blonde, based on the hit film starring Reese Witherspoon, tells the story of a woman who is far more than the typical blonde. Elle Woods, a Southern California sorority girl, is as headstrong as she is dainty. Her boyfriend goes off to Harvard Law School, leaving her for someone serious.” Not one to settle at this loss, Elle decides to get into Harvard Law and prove she’s got what it takes to become serious on her own terms. With great song, show-stopping dance numbers, and enormous heart, Legally Blonde and Elle Woods are guaranteed to charm and delight Center Stage audiences.

Director Gary Scarpa said: We have a veteran, talented cast, which includes 30 college students and 25 outstanding high school performers. We feel Legally Blonde will be one of our best productions ever. It is a high energy, funny show, filled with incredible songs and exciting dancing. 

Legally Blonde will be performed at air-conditioned Shelton High School at 8:00 p.m. on July 27th, 28th, August 3rd, and August 4th, and also at 2:00 p.m. on August 4th.

More About The Cast

A group of talented Valley performers will be featured in Center Stage Theatre’s upcoming production of Legally Blonde at Shelton High School, featuring Center Stage’s Youth CONNection. Appearing in the production will be Derby residents Josh Hahn, a sophomore Western Connecticut State University, and Ali Dunne, a junior at Sacred Heart Academy; Ansonia residents Kellen Schult, a senior at Southern Connecticut State University, and Carter Trembley, a freshman at St. Joseph High School; and Oxford’s Travis Pyka, a junior at Oxford High School.

Hahn, now performing with the group for his seventh consecutive summer, said, Theatre is my passion and the Scarpas have helped me pursue my passion by allowing me to perform in a friendly and educational environment. I am so thankful and grateful to be a part of the Center Stage and YC family.”

Dunne, whose been associated with the Scarpas since she was a third grader and attended their theatre camp program explains, The Center Stage environment is such a healthy one. I have made so many good friends, and the experience has helped me grow immensely as a performer and as a person. Everyone is incredibly supportive!”
