Derby Second Ward Alderman Art Gerckens returns to the Valley Indy podcast this week to talk about a truly hyperlocal issue.
A few residents in the area of Nutmeg and Hawthorne avenues in west Derby have been complaining about noise and traffic from the basketball courts in Coon Hollow Park.
They took their complaints to Alderman Art and his fellow Derby local legislators.
Turns out officials within Derby Public Schools and the city police department had their own issues with Nutmeg Avenue, a goat trail of a road that connects Hawthorne Avenue to the Derby High School-Middle School campus.
