DERBY — In this week’s “Navel Gazing” podcast, Andrew Baklik, Mayor Rich Dziekan’s chief of staff, gives an update on the COVID-19 situation within Derby City Hall.
Dziekan announced Monday (Oct. 12) that he had tested positive. Baklik said one additional employee has tested positive.
The mayor is recovering at home, as is the second employee. Derby City Hall was closed Monday (for Columbus Day) and did not open to the public or employees on Tuesday or Wednesday.

NOTE: This recording was plagued with technical issues, including in post-production, so it is divided into two parts. Part I, embedded below as a YouTube video (audio-only), cuts out at about the 29-minute mark.

Baklik also talks about a move to sell a Derby eyesore so that it can be redeveloped and put back on the tax rolls, and he gives an update on a mixed-use project approved earlier this year for the redevelopment zone.
In part II, Baklik talks development and charter revision. (Note: about three minutes of the conversation at the start of part II was lost because of technical issues)
