The Valley Parish Nurse Program/ Greater Naugatuck Valley will offer a four-day, 32-hour course for those interested in becoming Nationally Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians.
The classes will be held from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm on Tuesday, March 20 and Wednesday, March 21, and Tuesday, March 27 and Wednesday, March 28 at the Echo Hose Ambulance Corp Training Center in Shelton. The cost of the class is $185. Lunch and breaks will be provided.
This 32 hour program is designed to educate individuals to become child passenger safety technicians.
Topics covered include: the need for child passenger safety programs, relevant federal legislation and safety standards, crash dynamics, vehicle occupant protection systems, selection and use of child safety child restraint systems, correct installation of child restraints, misuse and compatibility issues, and organizing and coordinating a child seat checkup event. Teaching strategies include lecture, hands-on practice, and group discussion.
Written and performance examinations are given during the program.
Participation in all course activities and successful performance on both examinations leads to national certification as a child passenger safety technician.

Please note that $75 of the $185 course fee is paid online at the time of online registration, and the remaining $110 is payable to the Valley Parish Nurse Program (checks only) to cover administrative and programming costs by February 28, 2012.
