ANSONIA-DERBY-SEYMOUR — Wednesday is a busy day in local politics, with Republican town committees in Ansonia, Derby, and Seymour scheduled to formally nominate candidates for municipal office.

The Ansonia Republican Town Committee is scheduled to nominate incumbent Mayor David Cassetti for a fifth, two-year term at 7 p.m. at the Ansonia Armory, 5 State St. The committee will also nominate an underticket, including candidates for the Board of Aldermen.

Members of the Derby Republican Town Committee are scheduled to nominate their incumbent, Mayor Rich Dziekan, for a third, two-year term at 7 p.m. in the meeting room at Hotchkiss Hose, 200 David Humphreys Road in Derby.

Not to be outdone, Republicans in Seymour are scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. to nominate candidates at the Seymour Community Center, 20 Pine St. The GOP is expected to nominate First Selectwoman Annmarie Drugonis for her first full term. Right now she is filling out the vacancy created when First Selectman W. Kurt Miller opted to resign and take a job in finance within Ansonia City Hall.
