Valley Scouts Arrive In Virginia

Derby’s Charles Stankye III reports that the boys from the Housatonic Council have arrived at A.P. Hill in Caroline County, Va.

The Scouts arrived at the 2010 National Scout Jamboree at about 7:30 a.m.

They made it through the check-in process and are now setting up their camps,” Stankye said. They brought along the cool weather as it is only 85 degrees here today. The past week the temperature averaged 100 degrees.”

Stankye is in Virginia as part of the fire/EMS crew for the event, which attracts tens of thousands of Boy Scouts.

Stankye’s son, Charles Stankye IV, will be reporting on the event for the Valley Independent Sentinel, along with Jimmy Butler.
