Valley United Way’s President and C.O.O. Sharon Gibson-Ellis presented an award that was given out for the first time last year named the Mildred A. Davey Partner Agency Award.

Mildred Davey was a friend, colleague and mentor to many in the Valley community. She was a lifelong resident of Shelton who was a tremendous leader in the Valley community.

This year the award was presented to The Boys and Girls Club of Lower Naugatuck Valley. They are a partner agency who helps galvanize our Valley children so they can stay in school, learn to be accepting and tolerant of others and look to the future to further their personal success.

New awards given out honored Michael Law of Edgewell Personal Care for the CEO Leaderhip Award and Bob Scinto of R.D. Scinto, Inc. for the CVC Corporate Citizen of the Year.

Businesses across the Valley were honored as well. Blanchette Sporting Good and Minuteman Press received the Small Business of the Year Award, Better Packages, Inc and Dworken, Hillman, LaMorte & Sterczala, P.C. were named Mid-Size Business of the Year and the Large Business of the Year Awards were given to Edgewell Personal Care and Hubbell Incorporated.
