Veterans Day is Thursday.
The Valley towns have planned special ceremonies to honor military veterans and commemorate the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I.
Ansonia
Ansonia will hold a ceremony at 11 a.m. in the area next to city hall. Music will be played and children will read essays about Veterans Day.

Derby
The John H. Collins Post 24, American Legion of Derby will host an observance at the Derby Green at 10:30 a.m.
A luncheon will follow the Derby service at the post home at 230 Caroline St. in Derby.

Derby’s Office of Emergency Management is also inviting veterans to its media room in city hall to use the ham radios to try to make contact with military stations around the world. The communications will take place between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Seymour
American Legion Emil Sanger Post 10 members will place a Navy wreath into the Naugatuck River at 9:30 a.m. at the Bank Street bridge.
Then at 11 a.m. the group will hold a service at French Memorial Park.
Another memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. at the Broad Street park.
Shelton
The Sutter-Terlizzi American Legion Post 16 will hold its Veterans Day ceremony at 10:30 a.m. at the Riverwalk Veterans Memorial.
