Victims In Seymour Crash Included Mother, Daughter, And A Woman From Ansonia

SEYMOUR — Police on Friday evening released the names of two adult females killed in a car crash on Roosevelt Drive Wednesday night. Police also said a four-year-old girl was killed in the crash.

According to police:

  • Shanea Leary 28, of West Haven, and her 4‑year-old daughter, died
  • Nicole Gibson, 35, of Ansonia, was also killed

According to a preliminary investigation by police, Leary was driving a 2007 Hyundai Accent east at an apparent high rate of speed” on Roosevelt Drive at about 10 p.m. when the vehicle crossed the center line on a curve and collided head-on with a 2017 Toyota Rav4 being driven by Nicole Ruschmeyer, 33, of Brookfield. 

Leary, her daughter, and her passenger, Gibson, were all declared deceased at the scene.

Ruschmeyer is in the hospital with serious injuries. She tried to take evasive action to avoid the oncoming vehicle, police said.
