Marini’s latest screening is “Masters of the Universe” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” (1990). Click here to buy tickets.
Marini has eclectic movie tastes and a lifelong obsession with “Masters of the Universe:” the He-Man toy line, cartoon, comic book series, and, in 1987, live action film starring Dolph Lundgren financed by the infamous cost-cutting company Cannon Films.

He’s also devoured everything related to “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” and still has his copy of the original Nintendo game, which is now equally enjoyed by his two young sons.
The Valley Indy decided the only man who could match Marini’s 80s pop culture curriculum vitae was none other than John Amenta, the co-host of “Pint o Comics,” the wildly popular and somewhat dangerous Connecticut-based podcast. (Click here to listen to them deconstruct “Dune”).
Amenta takes over the hosting duties of the “Navel Gazing Podcast” for an hour to interview Marini, with the help of a very grumpy Brian Spears, a special effects makeup artist who has worked on everything from “Army of the Dead” to “The Punisher” series on Netflix. Spears co-hosts “Insufferable Bastards,” an obnoxious podcast that routinely wonders why people still pay money to watch Vin Diesel movies.

And don’t forget “Connecticut Cult Classics” returns to the Strand Nov. 27 with two of the schlockiest movies of all time. Click here for info.
