Visitor Restrictions Lifted At Griffin

Visitor restrictions that halted visiting to Griffin’s Childbirth Center by visitors age 18 or younger that were imposed on November 2nd to protect newborns mothers and hospital staff from exposure to the H1N1 influenza have been lifted.

The restrictions that also applied to youth under the age of 18 in our Junior Volunteer Program have also been lifted.

Monitoring of Emergency Room visits, admissions and employee absenteeism indicates that the outbreak of H1N1 influenza has diminished in our community. We will continue to monitor these indicators and if there is a significant change we will consider reimposing visitor restrictions.

Our thanks to the more than 700 employees who received the H1N1 vaccine. We believe the high participation in the vaccination program helped minimize the impact on our employees and the hospital.
