If you work or own a business in the Valley, the Valley United Way’s volunteer council wants you.
The group is holding a membership event at 5 p.m. Thursday at Basement Systems in Seymour.
About 50 to 60 businesses are already active with the council, said Dan Fitzgerald, the group’s membership chairman. The council is the group that creates the “Harvest House” out of donated food each fall, and gives school supplies to students in the Valley at the end of each summer.
“These are all things that are needed in this area,” Fitzgerald said. “Without this organization, it doesn’t happen.”
Fitzgerald said the event is meant to help potential members understand how joining is good for business too.
