Man Arrested, Again

Ansonia police on Friday arrested a man who had engaged them in a four-hour stand off back in February.

Michael Dupre, 35, of 23 Riggs St., was charged with disorderly conduct and criminal use of a firearm, and was held on a $25,000 bond.

Lt. Andrew Cota said police responded to Dupre’s home on Feb. 16 at about 10 p.m. for a report of a dispute, and found Dupre sitting in his living room with a rifle in his arms.

Police evacuated several homes in the area to make sure no one was hurt if the rifle was shot, Cota said. Then, for the next four hours, Sgt. Edward Henry and Officer Anthony Capezzali talked with Durpe, trying to get him to calm down.

Cota said Dupre was talking about harming himself.

Once Dupre gave in, Cota said, police took him to the hospital and applied for a warrant.

They served the warrant Friday afternoon, after having Dupre in custody early that morning for a separate arrest.

In the latest incident, police responded to a dispute on Riggs Street just after midnight on Friday. Dupre was charged with second-degree breach of peace and third-degree assault after a dispute with his neighbor, Cota said.

Dupre will appear in Derby Superior Court on July 27 for the charges.

Pot Bust

Seymour police arrested two teens Sunday night, after officers found them in Veterans Park on Day and Pearl Street with a backpack filled with dime bags of marijuana.

Lt. Paul Satkowski said a resident called police after midnight early Sunday to report noise by the park.

When officers arrived, they found two teenagers leaving the area. One, a 16-year-old male who wasn’t identified because of his age, was charged with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor.

He and the other teen, 18-year-old David Conway, were charged with possession of less than 4 ounces of marijuana, and possession with intent to sell. Police said they found 29 small bags of marijuana in their possession.

Both teens were released on separate $500 bonds.

Obviously people are helping us,” Satkowski said. We asked for more eyes and ears. This just shows you what the police can do if things are reported in a timely fashion.”
