Shelton Fire Marshal James Tortora submitted the following summary of the Shelton Volunteer Fire Department’s calls from last week.
On 04/18/17 at 7:20 am the Huntington Co. #3, White Hills Co. #5, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to assist the Stratford Fire Department at a structure fire at #1800 North Peters Lane in Stratford. Two engines, one tanker truck and one canteen truck responded.
On 04/18/17 at 10:44 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a natural gas leak at #82 Myrtle Street. Two engines responded.
On 04/19/17 at 00:32 am the Pine Rock Co. #4 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to an electrical hazard at #24 Soundridge Road. One engine responded.
On 04/19/17 at 3:30 pm the White Hills Co. #5 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a mutual aid call to #64 Blue Hills Road in Monroe to assist at a house fire. One engine, one tanker truck and one ladder truck responded.
On 04/20/17 at 1:07 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at the Wild Kanji Restaurant #514 Bridgeport Avenue. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. One engine responded.
On 04/21/17 at 6:51 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at #11 Bristol Drive. There was no fire. Smoke from cleaning an iron caused the alarm. One unit responded.
On 04/22/17 at 10:23 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at the Winter Brothers Building at #90 Oliver Terrace. There was no fire. A tow motor operator accidentally struck a fire alarm pull station causing the alarm to sound. One engine and one rescue truck responded.
On 04/22/17 at 3:37 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at the Ripton Housing Complex at #423 Howe Avenue. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking was the cause of the alarm. One engine, one ladder truck and one rescue truck responded.
On 04/23/17 at 3:40 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #87 Ten Coat Lane for a carbon monoxide detector sounding in the home. The alarm was activated after the homeowner ran a snowblower in the garage. One engine, one ladder truck and one utility truck responded.
On 4/23/17 at 6:34 pm the Huntington Co. #3, White Hills Co. #5 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a car fire at a motor vehicle accident on Nichols Avenue. Firefighters extinguished a small fire in the engine compartment of a vehicle that struck a utility pole. One engine and one rescue truck responded.
On 04/24/17 at 01:15 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to an automatic residential fire alarm sounding at #6 Wall Street. There was no fire. Two engines responded.
