Shelton Fire Marshal James Tortora submitted the following summary of the Shelton Volunteer Fire Department’s calls from last week.
On 06/26/17 at 4:02 pm the Huntington Co. #3, White Hills Co. #5 and the Pine Rock Co.#4 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at #1 Elderberry Lane. There was no fire. Two engines and a ladder truck responded.
On 06/26/17 at 4:27 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Park Co #4 responded to a brush fire on River Road near Petremont Lane. One engine responded.
On 06/27/17 at 12:06 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Park Co #4 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at the Ripton Housing Complex at #423 Howe Avenue. There was no fire. Two engines responded.
On 06/27/17 at 9:57 am the Echo Hose Co. #1, White Hills Co. #5 and the Pine Rock Co.#4 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at #40 Hilltop Drive. There was no fire. One engine and a ladder truck responded.
On 06/27/17 at 6:34 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle accident at Booth Hill Road at Mohegan Road. One engine responded.
On 06/29/17 at 5:39 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Park Co #4 responded to an open burning fire smoldering on Belmont Avenue. One engine responded.
On 06/29/17 at 12:46 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to route 8 north between exits 12 and 13 for a report of a car fire. Upon arrival firefighters found a small fire had occurred from an oil spill on the engine. One engine responded.
On 06/29/17 at 12:46 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to route 8 south near exit 13 for a car off the road. A rescue truck responded.
On 06/30/17 at 7:59 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Park Co #4 responded to a fire alarm sounding at #15 Forest Parkway. There was no fire. a ladder truck and a tower truck responded.
On 06/30/17 at 12:29 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to route 8 north between exits 12 and 13 for a report of a car fire. Upon arrival firefighters found a small fire had occurred from an oil spill on the engine. One engine responded.
On 06/30/17 at 3:15 pm the Pine Rock Park Co #4 responded to a power line down on Soundridge Road. One engine responded.
On 06/30/17 at 8:31 pm the White Hills Co. #5 responded to to mutual aid assistance to the scene of a structure fire in the Town of Monroe at #84 Mustang Drive. A tanker truck responded.
On 06/30/17 at 8:34 pm the Huntington Co. #3, White Hills Co. #5 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at #308 Waverly Road. There was no fire. Two engines and a ladder truck responded.
On 06/30/17 at 9:41 pm the White Hills Co. #5 and the Pine Rock Park Co #4 responded to a power line down in the roadway on Birchbank Road. Two engines responded.
On 06/30/17 at 8:52 pm the White Hills Co. #5 responded to to mutual aid assistance standby for the Town of Monroe FD at their fire station #1 on Route 110. An engine responded.
On 07/01/17 at 04:10 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Park Co #4 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Helen DeVaux Housing Complex at #91 Howe Avenue. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. An engine and a ladder truck responded.
On 07/01/17 at 7:39 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Park Co #4 responded to a fire alarm sounding at #458 River Road. There was no fire. Construction work caused the alarm. An engine and a ladder truck responded.

On 07/02/17 at 12:26 pm the White Hills Co. #5 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a report of smoke in the area of #290 Leavenworth Road. No smoke or fire was found by firefighters. An engine responded.
