As part of the Osborne Homestead Museum’s Wonders of Nature holiday tours, a special star gazing program will take place on Saturday, December 12, at the Kellogg
Environmental Center, 500 Hawthorne Avenue, Derby.
Visitors can stop by between 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. and learn about the night sky as they look through telescopes provided by the Astronomical Society of New Haven.
The rain/snowdate is Saturday, December 19.
After viewing the beautiful night sky, visitors can see the Osborne Homestead Museum’s festive holiday decorations. Experience rooms festooned with pinecones, stars, birds, greens and icicles as you learn about conservation history in Connecticut.
On the evening of the star gazing program, museum tours will be offered every ½ hour on the hour from 7 PM to 9 PM. The star gazing and museum tour are FREE; donations are accepted.
“The Wonders of Nature” museum decorations will be open from November 27 through December 20, Thursday through Sunday, from 10 AM – 4:00 PM. On the Friday evenings of December 4, 11, and 18 the museum will present “Twilight Tours,” from 4:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
The museum and the center are managed by the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection.
