A woman at an Ansonia residence was injured Monday after pouring gasoline on a fire, police said.
The woman was at her mother’s home on Glen Ridge Drive when the incident happened. She suffered first-and-second-degree burns, according to radio dispatches from the scene.
Ambulance crews took the woman, who was not identified, to Bridgeport Hospital.
The woman was burning brush in the yard when she was burned, according to Lt. Andrew Cota. She had poured gasoline on the fire and was burned on her legs, Cota said.
The woman’s mother, Loretta Sambides, said her daughter was still in the hospital at 4:45 p.m. She did not want to discuss the incident.
Cota said the injuries were not serious.
The injury was reported at about 1:50 p.m. Monday.
The Ansonia Fire Department was not dispatched to the scene, so Chief Ron Burgess did not have any other information.
