The bicycle rider crashed in a driveway at the intersection of Central and Jewett in Ansonia Friday.
Police said a woman was seriously injured in Ansonia Friday after falling off a bicycle and hitting her head.
The 33-year-old woman was riding down Jewett Street and lost control of the bicycle on the curve toward Central Avenue/Danielczuk Drive.
The initial emergency dispatch said a person had fallen off a bike and hit the curb. A person on Facebook who said she witnessed the crash said the woman crashed into a tree.
The woman was unconscious immediately after striking her head. Emergency responders found her in a driveway just off the road.
She was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven on a trauma alert.
Police were at the crash site for several hours Friday, taking photos of the bicycle and the area.
Additional information, such as the woman’s name or current condition, was not available Friday.
