Women’s Business Development Council Relocates, Expands in Shelton

The Women’s Business Development Council (WBDC) has relocated and expanded due to an increased demand for services.

The office has recently relocated to 2 Enterprise Drive, Suite 303 in Shelton. WBDC first came to Shelton five years ago to provide entrepreneurial training, financial education, and professional development. They have continued to help women and men throughout the state grow their businesses and advance their careers.

WBDCs services are responsive to the needs of the community it serves. Since the economic downturn of 2007 WBDC has increased their outreach effort throughout the entire state. WBDC believes it is necessary to go wherever there is a demand for their services and will continue to do so. Although WBDCs headquarters are located in Stamford this is not a limiting factor in who the organization serves. In fact, the organization reaches women and men in 160 towns in Connecticut.

The new office space gives us the ability to help more clients some of whom are unemployed to start new business ventures throughout our state.” says COO of WBDC, Dorothy Bratchell.

For the upcoming Spring Schedule WBDC is offering an array of programs that will be located in the Naugatuck Valley corridor. The most current spring schedule can be found on WBDCs website; or for more information please call 203 – 353-1750.

For example, in June WBDC will be offering a course related to starting a daycare business titled, Starting Up A Family Daycare Business: A 3‑Part Series”. The course will be located at Naugatuck Valley Community College and will consist of three sessions that explore what is necessary in order to have a home child-care business that can deliver a stable income.

The WBDC will maintain its other satellite office in Waterbury as well as training sites in New Haven, Fairfield, Norwalk, and Darien. WBDC will continue to dedicated their time and services to women, men, and small businesses. Small businesses, many of them being women-owned are continuing to contribute to our economy and this maintains the demand for WBDCs presence.
