Yet Another Serious Crash On Derby’s Roosevelt Drive

Two people were sent to the trauma center at Yale-New Haven Hospital after a head-on crash on Roosevelt Drive in Derby Friday morning.

Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening and their names were not available.

Derby Storm Ambulance personnel had to use Hurst tools to cut one person from a vehicle. In addition, Derby Storm Engine and the Derby fire department had to extinguish a fire in one of the vehicles.

The crash happened on Roosevelt Drive just before Pink House Cove in a stretch of the road that is scheduled to be examined by the Valley Council of Governments, Derby police and the state Department of Transportation.

There have been two fatal crashes in that area in two years, including one last month.

The DOT will be conducting a safety review in conjunction with local officials.

Three of the photos in the gallery below were provided by Thomas Lenart, Sr. Article continues after the gallery.
