Mayor Anita Dugatto will be welcoming representatives from the “YouthWorks” program to Derby City Hall Thursday, June 11 for an information session.
YouthWorks, a program of the nonprofit WorkPlace, is a job training and counseling service. It is free to those who qualify.

Dugatto is inviting residents between the ages of 16 and 24 (and their families) to attend the YouthWorks session from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 11.
The info session will be on the second floor, in the Aldermanic Chambers.
Young people attending will be able to talk to YouthWorks reps and learn more about the program.

Attendees will learn about the year-round program, eligibility requirements and services offered to participants.
According to the mayor, participants in YouthWorks receive comprehensive counseling and guidance for 12 months by a YouthWorks specialist on job readiness, education advancement and industry specific training. In addition, resume building and job preparation skills will be presented.
“We’re thrilled to have The Work Place bring this program to our community. Any opportunity to support the advancement of our youth is a wonderful thing,” Dugatto said.
A goal is to combat youth unemployment, said Joseph Carbone, president and CEO of The WorkPlace in Bridgeport.
Carbone and The WorkPlace gained national attention and acclaim after a “60 Minutes” segment for their efforts to help the long-term unemployed.
