The school district announced Brockett’s retirement from coaching in April.

Brockett was an assistant coach with the Chargers from 2000 until 2005. He became head coach in 2006 after Jack Hunt, another Valley football legend, retired.

The championships and accolades are a testament to his hard work, strategic mind, and unwavering commitment to excellence,” Ansonia Public Schools Superintendent Joseph DiBacco said at the time.“But his legacy goes far beyond wins and titles. Tom has been a mentor, a role model, and a steady presence in the lives of countless student-athletes.”
