A Shelton office building was evacuated for about an hour Friday while police investigated a bag found in its lobby.

Police were called to 6 Armstrong Road about 10:30 a.m.

Shelton Police Detective Christopher Nugent said police evacuated the building and called a state police emergency services unit, per the department’s protocol in dealing with suspicious items.

While awaiting the arrival of state cops, a person who had been working inside the building came forward and said he had left the bag there accidentally.

State police arrived and checked it out and determined there was nothing dangerous in the bag, Nugent said.

Police gave the all clear about noon and employees were let back inside the building.
