Ansonia To Ceremonially ‘Open’ Renovated Road

The City of Ansonia will officially acknowledge the completion of the Wakelee Avenue rehabilitation project 5 p.m. Tuesday outside Roma Pizzeria.

The city received state grants totaling $5.2 million to pay for the project, which will include new street lights, sidewalks, granite curbing and underground drainage.

Grants are money from taxpayers, albeit not exclusively local.

Residents on the road have pointed out on social media that new lights on the road are plentiful — and very bright. The mayor’s office is working to address the issue.
