A car crash in Derby overnight sent a car into the Griffin Hospital Emergency Department entrance.

There were no injuries, according to a post from the hospital on Facebook.

Photos on social media show two cars were involved in the wreck.

Here is the statement from the hospital:

At approximately 2:15 a.m. on Fri. June 1, there was an automobile accident in the Griffin Hospital Emergency Department parking lot that resulted in extensive damage to the Emergency Department entrance. There were no injuries.

Local building officials have inspected the damage and determined there is no structural damage to the building.

Thanks to the exceptional work of the First Responders, Derby Police and Fire departments, and the staff in Griffin’s Emergency Department, Engineering Department, Environmental Services Department, and Security Department, the main entrance to the Emergency Department has been repaired, and is back in service.

While the Emergency Department didn’t close following the accident, the Emergency Department asked that ambulances be diverted to other hospitals for a period of approximately 3 hours.

The Emergency Department is now back in full operation.”
