Covid 19 Community Update – (also available at www.cityofansonia.com)

The following Community update is being provided to you from the City of Ansonia Emergency Operations Center.

The intent of this document is provide a summary of preparedness, response and other governmental activities.

Public Safety and Community Information

- The Nation, State, and City remain under Declared States of Emergency.

- The City of Ansonia Incident Command is monitoring and responding to State mandates and requests for information, as needed.

- The City of Ansonia has posted a list of restaurants providing take-out and delivery services on its City Website: https://www.cityofansonia.com/

- The Public Safety Committee and Department heads continue to meet virtually to discuss planning and response activities for the City of Ansonia.

- Police, Fire, EMS and Public Works are still fully staffed and will respond to emergencies. Some in-person services have been curtailed but all public safety departments are open.

- Police are still actively patrolling the City of Ansonia.

- Remember Police, Fire, and EMS may be responding in personal protective equipment. This is for their safety as well as yours.

- All ARMS ambulances and equipment are being fully decontaminated and sterilized with modern techniques after each and every call. Rest assured that their priority is to keep our community safe, and to prevent our at risk population from being exposed.

- All parks are closed per order of Mayor Cassetti.

- All stores in Ansonia are receiving deliveries. Some products may be out of stock but will be replenished as deliveries are made.

- Stop and Shop is open from 730 am until 800 pm. Seniors and customers with weakened immune systems have special shopping hours from 600 am to 730 am each day.

- Target is open from 800 am until 900 pm.

- Rite Aid is open from 800 am until 900 pm.

- CVS is open 24 hours.

- Public Safety is requesting the donation of non-powdered latex free gloves, gowns, surgical masks, N95 masks and hand sanitizer or disinfectant products. Businesses please check your inventories for these items. Please consider donating them to us. They will be used to keep Ansonia Police, Fire and EMS Personnel safe! Please call the Police Department and we will pick them up. Please call 203 – 735-1885 if you wish to donate.

The Department of Motor Vehicles has:

- Extended the expiration dates of all vehicle registrations that expire between March 10 and June 8 by 90 days.

- Extended the emissions test or retest dates with due dates between March 10 and June 8 by 90 days.

- Extended the temporary (paper) licenses issued after March 10, 2020 by 90 days.

Public Health

- All non-essentially businesses have been ordered closed by the Governor. You can locate the complete list at www.portal.ct.gov

- DO NOT go out into the public if you have a fever or flu like systems.

- Restaurants and Bars (that serve food) – are open for business. TAKE OUT OR DELIVERY ONLY

- Practice social distancing. Maintain six (6) feet from other people.

- Be smart when outdoors enjoying a park. Basketball courts and playgrounds should be avoided – Practice Social Distancing.

- Standing in a line is fine – just Practice Social Distancing.

- It is extremely important that EVERYONE takes this Public Health Emergency seriously!

Municipal Government Operations

- Due to the health concerns of the Coronavirus, all city buildings are closed to the public. Phone contact is the best method to contact City Hall employees.

- Additionally, the transfer station is closed to demolition contractors. Ansonia residents will still be allowed in with their proof of residency for household trash only, no demolition.

- The administrative office will remain closed to the public.

Public/Private Schools

- Ansonia Public Schools are closed until April 20, 2020.

- Ansonia Public Schools Mobile Meals Distribution

Guidelines: The program will continue to operate Monday-Friday until further notice. Any child ages 18 and under or their parent/guardian may go to one of the bus stops below for a lunch and next day breakfast meal. No identification is required to receive these meals. Each bus below will have its designated number visible. Please note that all four buses will leave Ansonia High School at 11 a.m. each day, and the drop off times listed below are approximate. Do not congregate and remember to follow the guidelines about social distancing.
