Fireworks!
The 2018 Derby-Shelton fireworks over the Housatonic River are scheduled for Tuesday, July 3.
The rain date is July 5.
The fireworks begin around 9 p.m., but you should plan on getting to either downtown well beforehand due to parking and traffic.
Here is some info from Derby police.
Shelton police sent the following Code Red message Monday:
“The annual Shelton and Derby fireworks are scheduled for Tuesday July 3 at the Riverwalk on Canal Street.
Canal Street between Wharf Street and Hill Street will be closed at approximately 2 p.m.
Canal Street between Hill Street and Cornell Street will be closed at 5:30 p.m.
Howe Avenue including all side roads between Wharf Street and Center Street will be closed at 7:30 p.m.”
In Shelton a concert by Parrotbeach is scheduled beginning at 7 p.m. in Veterans Memorial Park on Canal Street.
In Derby a concert by Shameless is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at Elizabeth and Main streets.
The Shelton recreation department operates a cancellation line — 203 – 331-4120 — to check in case of inclement weather.
