Derby Man Charged In Ansonia Stabbing

Denton

ANSONIA A Derby man was charged with stabbing an acquaintance during a drug deal gone bad.

In a prepared statement, Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch said police were called to a complaint of a stabbing on Vine Street about 9:47 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim initially reported being robbed and stabbed while walking to the store,” Lynch said. After further questioning the victim admitted that he attempted to sell an over the counter medication as a prescription medication to someone he knew.”

The victim identified 18-year-old Derby resident Ethan Denton as the suspected stabber. He was arrested.

When the suspect realized the medication was not (what) the victim portrayed it to be, he fought with the victim, stabbing him once in the chest,” Lynch said.

The victim suffered a non-life threatening injury and was treated at a hospital, Lynch said.

Police charged Denton with first-degree assault, second-degree threatening, and attempted possession of a controlled substance.

He was held on a $50,000 bond and was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at Superior Court in Derby.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected,” Lynch said.
