Lamont Wants To Curb Borrowing

Gov. Ned Lamont pledged Tuesday to slam the brakes on state borrowing, proposing a debt diet” that could drain significant resources from municipal school construction and capital projects at state universities.

It also would make it difficult in 2020 for Lamont’s fellow Democrats in the legislature to obtain borrowing for small, community-based projects — labeled pork-barrel spending” by critics — as they run for re-election.
