Gubernatorial candidates Ned Lamont and Bob Stefanowski faced off Wednesday in their first head-to-head debate of the campaign season.
Lamont is a Democrat. Stefanowski is a Republican.
CT News Junkie, a state news site, reported that the Republican, a first-time candidate, stuck to his point — Lamont is nothing more than a clone of current Gov. Dannel Malloy, one of the country’s least popular governors, according to polling.

CT Mirror, another state news site, reported that the debate ended without either candidate providing details regarding how to close a $2.1 billion budget deficit. Stefanowski didn’t provide details on how he would fulfill his promise to eliminate the state income tax.
