Police: Ansonia Man Passed Counterfeit Bills

An Ansonia man is due in court this week after police said he passed 20 counterfeit $100 bills at the CVS on Pershing Drive.

In a prepared statement, Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch said Richard Nash, 55, was charged with 20 counts of third-degree forgery March 10 after police obtained an arrest warrant in the case.

According to information on the state judicial branch website, Nash allegedly passed the phony bills Oct. 29, 2016.

Nash was released after posting a $1,000 bond (not with cash, Lynch said) and is scheduled to appear at Superior Court in Derby March 23.
