Seymour Historical Society Program Focuses On Iconic Actress

SEYMOUR — The Seymour Historical Society is making its return to live programming with an in-depth look into the Connecticut roots and incredible career of iconic actress Katharine Hepburn. This special event will be held on Sunday, June 27 at 2 p.m.

Born and raised in Connecticut, Hepburn enjoyed a six-decade career in stage, film and TV. Known for her independent personality, she cultivated a screen persona that matched her public image, often portraying women who were strong-willed and sophisticated.

She also helped create an informal, elegant approach to American style that continues to resonate today. Even after reaching stardom, she maintained lifelong ties to her home state. Taylor McClure of the Connecticut Historical Society will trace Hepburn’s Connecticut roots and discuss their role in shaping her extraordinary legacy.

The program is free, open to the public, and will include a raffle for Hepburn books and DVDs.

The Seymour Historical Society is located at 59 West Street, near the Trinity Episcopal Church. Doors open at 1 p.m. – an early arrival is suggested as seating is limited. Just to stay on the safe side, we kindly ask our guests to wear masks.
