A Shelton man was charged Monday (July 9) with illegally contacting a domestic violence victim while behind bars.
Police arrested 49-year-old Frederick Kushpinsky in Waterbury after he arrived on a bus from Maine.
He faces eight counts of violating a protective order and also three counts of failure to a appear in court in prior criminal cases.
In a prepared statement, Shelton Police Detective Christopher Nugent said police “were contacted in June that Kushpinksy was attempting to make contact with a victim from a previous domestic violence arrest.”
“During the course of the investigation it was discovered that Kushpinsky was sending mail while incarcerated on domestic related charges from Bridgeport Correctional Facility attempting to make contact with a victim,” Nugent said.
“Shelton Police were contacted and informed that Kushpinksy would be arriving from out of town in Waterbury by Greyhound bus on 07/09/2018,” Nugent said. “Shelton Police with the assistance of Waterbury Police were able to locate Kushpinsky arriving at the bus terminal and take him into custody without incident.”
He was held on bonds totaling $300,000 and was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday (July 10) at Superior Court in Derby.
