Veterans Day Ceremony Monday In Ansonia

Ansonia’s American Legion Post 50 is hosting the city’s annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Monday, November 12, at 11 a.m.

It will occur at Veterans Park on Main Street, adjacent to Ansonia City Hall. All veterans are encouraged to attend as well as all members of the public.

If you have the day off from work because of this federal holiday, there is no better way to show support for veterans than to spend an hour in celebration of them.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI, also known as The Great War”, that at the time was thought to be the war to end all wars. Unfortunately, as the monuments in Veterans Park attest to, that has not been the case. On the heels of WWI, the American Legion was established, founded on four pillars: Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation, National Security, Americanism, and Children & Youth. Each of these pillars encompasses a variety of programs that benefit our nation’s veterans, its service members, their families, the youth of America and ordinary citizens. Post 50 invites local veterans to join the Legion to help assist with our work in Ansonia during this year of the American Legion’s 100th anniversary.

Veterans in attendance are invited to stay after the ceremony for a pizza lunch in City Hall, courtesy of Mayor Cassetti and Post 50.
