Ann Marie (Witalis) Haste, age 91, entered into eternal rest on June 18, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Born December 19, 1933 in Stratford, CT to the late Victor E. and Anna Tomasko Witalis. Ann grew up in Stratford, CT. In 1965, she and her husband of 66 years, the late Earle W. Haste (Bill) moved their family to Shelton, CT where they resided for over 50 years.
She was a devoted wife, mother and meticulous homemaker who loved raising her children and grandchildren. A loving daughter, she was the caretaker of her mother when her mom suffered with Alzheimers. Ann loved to garden and work in the yard. She especially enjoyed her many trips to Newport, RI where she toured the mansions, watched the yachts sailing into the harbor and viewing the Newport Bridge.
She is survived by her four children, Gary Haste (Barbara) of Seymour, CT, Deborah Bonetti (Barry) of Southbury, CT, Linda Haste of Maine, and James Haste (Kim) of Oxford, CT, her four grandchildren, Christopher Bonetti (Jenna), Rebecca Bonetti, Ashley Haste and Kurt Haste-Love (Stephanie) seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Ann was predeceased by her four brothers, Edward, Victor, Arthur and Lawrence Witalis.
She was a communicant at St Lawrence Church in Huntington, where she attended daily mass.
The family would like to thank the staff at Spring Village at Stratford, CT, especially Debbie Morgia, Rhonda Custis and Karen Clarke for their exceptional care and support given to our mom over the past 2 1/2 years. We would also like to thank the nurses at Caring Hospice Services, Stamford, CT who showed our mother so much kindness, compassion and respect.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, CT on Monday, June 23, from 10:00 – 11:15 a.m. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:15 a.m. for her Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence Church at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Stratford. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Ann’s name to Caring Hospice Services, 456 Glenbrook Rd., Stamford, CT 06906.
