Adam Leszczak, age 88, of Shelton, entered into eternal rest on Sunday April 6, 2025 at Hewitt Health and Rehab Center in Shelton surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on November 11, 1936 in Niebylcz, Poland, son of the late Piotr and Helena (Machos) Leszczak. Adam worked as a Coal Miner in the Polish Coal Miner’s Band for ten years where he dressed in a smart black uniform and wore a traditional miner’s cap. He “won the lottery” in 1964 after he was granted a Visa to come to the United States and he was very proud to earn his US Citizenship. He started his career at Better Packages in Shelton for one year, followed by Farrell’s Corporation for twenty-three years. He spent the last five years at Sikorsky until his retirement at the age of 58.
Adam played multiple instruments, including the harmonica and clarinet. He loved nature, animals, and was an avid beekeeper. He especially enjoyed taking trips up to Vermont with his grandchildren and taking in the vast beauty of Vermont’s wooded areas. Adam loved his many pet dogs and pigeons. He was a member of the St. Michael’s Church in Derby, where he was an usher for the 11:30 AM Sunday Morning Polish Mass.
Adam is survived by his wife Zofia Leszczak, his son Peter (Wendy) Leszczak, daughter Barbara (Thomas) Oko, grandchildren, Adam, Owen, and Erek Lesczak, and Haley and Ethan Oko, and twin sister Zofia Daskiewicz. He was predeceased by his brothers Paul and Stephen Leszczak, and sisters Cecelia Stockmal and Kathern Dzindzio.
Friends may greet the family on Monday April 14 from 9 AM to 10:30 AM at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St. Derby. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 AM for his Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Michael’s Church, 75 Derby Ave. Derby.
