Adele M. Stumpo, 85, of Derby, peacefully entered into eternal rest on December 8, 2012, at Griffin Hospital, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul R. Stumpo Sr.
Adele was born in Derby on January 25, 1927, daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Marino Capone. A lifelong resident of the Derby community, she was employed at the former Hershey Metal Products in Ansonia. Adele had a zest for life, family, and helping people. She was a devoted volunteer at the Assumption School library and cafeteria. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, walking, cooking, and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by sons, Paul R. Stumpo Jr. (Barbara) of Oxford, Timothy A. Stumpo of Naugatuck, Charles C. Stumpo (Jacqueline) of Ansonia, and David J. Stumpo (Lisa) of Naugatuck, daughters, Sandra Gokey (Douglas) of Prospect and Karen A. Mandeville of Naugatuck, grandchildren, Karissa Hatcher, Corey Mandeville, Kristen, Michele, Elizabeth, Robert, Paul, Matthew, Nicole, Chelsea, Rachel, T.J., and Ryan Stumpo, great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Trey Hatcher, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Pat and George Capone and sisters, Ann Clifford and Carmela McMahon.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday Dec. 11, 2012, from 4 – 7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Wednesday, friends and relatives are invited to attend her funeral on 8:45 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at the Church of the Assumption in Ansonia. Interment will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. Contributions may be made to Griffin Hospital Hospice through the funeral home.
