Albert John Satkowski, Sr., age 79 of Seymour, the beloved husband of the late Mary Uhelsky Satkowski, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Griffin Hospital, Derby.
He was born in Scranton, Pa. on July 26, 1932, son of the late Matthew and Maria Messarch Satkowski.
Albert was a retired maintenance supervisor for the Knights of Columbus in New Haven and had worked for many security companies.
He was formerly employed as a mechanic at Johnny’s Service Station of Derby. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran from 1950 to 1954 and from 1955 to 1958, he served with the Marine Corps as a Military Policeman during the Korean War.
Albert was a devout communicant of St. Michael Church, Derby.
He was an avid polka fan and an avid football fan, especially of the Seymour Wildcats. He was a member of the Derby Elks Club #571, was a Fourth Degree Knight of the Bernard Council of the Shelton Knights of Columbus, and was a member of the Aurora Council 53 Knights of Columbus of Seymour.
His loving family includes his sons, Albert Satkowski, Jr. and his wife, Maura of Oxford, Matthew Satkowski and his wife, Katie, of Southbury, Peter Satkowski and his wife, Dana, of Beacon Falls, and Paul Satkowski and his wife, Sandie, of Seymour; two daughters, Mary Ann Satkowski and Patricia Bruce and her husband, Randy, all of Seymour; ten grandchildren; one great-granddaugh-ter; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a great-grandson, Isaiah Bruce, and his brothers, Frank and John Satkowski and his sisters, Helen Cotichelli, Alice Aragi and Josephine Kwiatkowski.
A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Albert’s life was held at St. Michael Church in Derby Tuesday (Sept. 13).
