Alex Zibluk

Alex Zibluk, age 100, of Woodbridge, formerly of Seymour and Oxford, the beloved husband of 43 years to the late Helen P. Huzar Zibluk, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 5, 2021 at his home at The Linden Assisted Living of Woodbridge. He was born in Seymour on September 21,1920, son of the late Polikarp and Anastasia (Elkavich) Zibluk. Alex attended Seymour schools and graduated from Bullard Haven trade school as a machinist. He partnered with his brother James (Pat) operating the Zibluk Machine Co. until his retirement in 1998. 

A World War II veteran, Alex proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy at Pearl Harbor and was a long time member of the Emil Senger Post 10 American Legion of Seymour. 

Alex enjoyed fishing, reading, bingo and anything to do with being outdoors. He loved square dancing, animals of all kinds and was known as an accomplished figure skater by all who knew him. Most of all, Alex loved to spend time with his family and many friends. He will be sadly missed by all, but will remain forever in our hearts. 

Alex’s loving family includes his children James Zibluk and his wife Linda, Janet Miller and her husband James and Marianne Warren, his grandchildren Jeffrey Zibluk and his wife Michele, Daria Killebrew and her husband Paul, Emmons Maloney and his wife Suzanne and Sean Maloney and his wife Sarah, his step-grandchildren Nicholas Miller and his wife Laura and Andrew Miller and his wife Meaghan, his great grandchildren Adam, Clancy, James, Lucas, Carianne, Eberly, Evelyn, RJ, Claire and Maxwell, his sisters in law Sophie Zibluk and Joan Zibluk and many nieces and nephews. Alex was predeceased by his three brothers Harry Zibluk, James Zibluk and John Zibluk and his son in law Robert Warren. 

The family would like to say a special thank you to all the staff and residents at The Linden for their companionship and concern for Alex over the last 1 1/2 years. 

Due to COVID-19 restrictions all services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial, with fully military honors accorded by the Emil Senger Post 10 American Legion, will be at the family plot at Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Alex’s memory may be made to the Three Saints Orthodox Church through the funeral home.
