Alexander Maffeo, age 75, unexpectedly entered into eternal rest on February 6, 2018, at Griffin Hospital.
Mr. Maffeo was born in Derby on August 1, 1942, son of the late Stephen and Jennie D’Amico Maffeo. He was employed as a teacher and guidance counselor at Derby High School as well as guidance counselor for the Valley Regional Adult Education Program at Derby High School for many years until his retirement. Al was an avid golfer and a former member of Highland Golf Club in Shelton. He was an active member of the A.M. Club in Derby and previously served on the Town of Seymour Board of Finance for several years. Al was an avid fan of the NY Giants, NY Yankees and UConn Men’s and Women’s Basketball.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving sister, Ann-Maria Cibroski (Ron) of Bethany, nephew, Bryan Cibroski (Elizabeth) of Floral Park, NY, niece, Stephanie Nelson (Ross) of Bethany, great-niece, Lorelai Nelson, dear friends, Lois and Michael Caprio of Oxford, Darlene Buster of Shelton and Adolf “Mizue” Dorosh of Derby.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday February 9, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Saturday, his funeral will begin at 8:45 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at St. Mary Church in Derby. Interment will immediately follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
