Alexandria “Marie” Mascolo Mennillo, age 89, of Derby, entered into rest on April 26, 2012 at Hospice in Branford.
She was the devoted wife of Carmine P. Mennillo.
She was born in Derby on July 18, 1922 daughter of the late Domenic and Catherine (DeLallo) Mascolo and was a life long Derby resident.
Marie was the First Female Police Officer for the City of Derby. She served the Police Department for 57 years; 39 years as a police officer and 18 years in the records division. She retired September, 2006.
Marie was a life long and active communicant of St. Mary’s Church. Marie was very meticulous about her home and cared greatly for her family.
She is survived by her sister Eleanor R. Mascolo, and her brother Francis Mascolo and his wife Frances; two nieces Linda Romano and her husband Joseph, MaryAnne Mascolo and her husband Jack Cronan, seven nephews James Mascolo and his wife Linda, Michael J. Mascolo and his wife Natalie, Domenic Mascolo and his wife Mary, Pasquale Mascolo, Eugene Mascolo and his wife Kajsa and Michael F. Mascolo, Scott Mascolo, daughter-in-law Barbara Gilloren, two grandchildren Christopher Gilloren and his wife Jen, and Kimberly Gilloren, four great grandchildren Julian, Avery, Carsyn and Macy Gilloren, great nieces & nephews Cari, J.R. & Kate Romano, Nicole, Leo & Gabriel, James, Daniel, Louis, Ali, Nicole, Seth & Micah Mascolo, Grace and Lisa Slater and by all the neighborhood kids.
She was predeceased by a son Charles E. Gilloren, three brothers Arnold, James, and Louis Mascolo and 1 nephew Arnold O. Mascolo, Jr.
Friends may call on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home 253 Elizabeth St. Derby.
Her funeral will leave the funeral home on Monday at 8:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM in St. Mary Church. Entombment will follow in Mt. St. Peter Garden Mausoleum.
