Alfred J. Martino, 88, beloved husband of Doris Ewen Martino, of Derby, peacefully entered into eternal rest on March 30, 2011, in the comfort of his home, with his loving family by his side.
Mr. Martino was born in Derby on September 7, 1922, son of the late Paul and Jessamina Martino. A lifelong resident of Derby, he was employed as a tool & die maker at the Farrel Corporation in Ansonia. A proud veteran, he honorably served during WW II in the U.S. Navy. Al was a former alderman for the City of Derby and also served on the Board of Apportionment and Taxation. He was an avid golfer, bowler, and enjoyed dancing. Despite being disabled by a stroke in 1973, through hardwork and determination, he was able to regain his independence and lead an active lifestyle.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Paul Martino of West Hollywood, CA, 3 loving daughters, Linda Koreiwo and her husband David of Derby, Laura Patterson of Costa Mesa, CA, and Diane Martino and David Scaife of Ansonia, 5 granddaughters, Jamie, Lindsay, Brittney, Kim, and Carrie. He was predeceased by 8 brothers and sisters.
His funeral service and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no visiting hours.
