Alfreda A. (Bomba) Garbien, age 97 of Seymour, beloved wife of the late Mitchell Edward Garbien, entered peaceful rest on Monday, December 11, 2023 in Griffin Hospital with family by her side. Born in Derby on December 28, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Jadach) Bomba.
Alfreda was a lifelong Seymour resident, growing up on Bomba Bros. Farm. She loved and enjoyed watching Animal Planet on TV, as well as many game shows, especially the $100,000 Pyramid. Alfreda enjoyed Polka dancing, Polish music, as well as cooking Polish foods. But most of all, Alfreda will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Alfreda is survived by her loving children; Edward Garbien and his wife Rose of Roxbury, David Garbien and his wife Peggy of Oxford, and Arlene Homa and her husband David of Derby; her 4 cherished grandchildren, Colin and Nicholas Garbien and Ryan and James Homa, as well as several adored great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Alfreda was predeceased by her loving daughter, Christine Garofalo; and her siblings, Stanley, John, Gene, Edward, Steve, Walter, Theodore, Victoria, Matilda and Sally.
The family would like to say a very special “Thanks” to Alfreda’s loving aides, Visha and Krystina, who took such great care of her, as well as acknowledge the staff on floor 2 at Griffin Hospital for the loving care they gave our mom.
