Alfreda Santore, age 92, of Seymour, peacefully entered into rest on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at her home. She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph S. Santore. Alfreda was born in Derby on Sept 30, 1926, daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Piwonski) Borkowski, and lived in Shelton for over 65 years before moving to Seymour.
She worked for Pearson Realty for many years before her retirement and was a longtime communicant of St. Joseph Church and most recently St. Margaret Mary Church. Alfreda was also a founding member of the Family Life program for the Diocese of Bridgeport. In her home, she loved gardening, sewing, cooking, baking, and cake decorating.
She is the beloved mother of Frederick Santore and his wife Vickie, Robert Santore and his long time partner Kerry Shepherd, Josephine Gardner and her husband Charles, Theresa Pearce and her husband Jeffrey, and Regina Davis and her husband Don. She also leaves nine cherished grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a sister, Dorothy Muzyk and her husband Stanley, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Sunday, February 10, 2019, from 2 to 5 PM. On Monday her procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Margaret Mary Church in Shelton. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Derby.
